Several open spaces have been acquired as Public Parks,
the total area devoted to this purpose being 190 acres.
The district is healthy and the houses, on the whole, in
very good repair. No areas can be called slums, any houses
in this category having been dealt with by demolition orders
from time to time.
The unemployment figures for the year show a very
gratifying fall throughout the year, the reduction month by
month being very consistent. 1,566 unemployed were registered
for January, 1933, and 698 for December.
