PNEUMONIA.
This disease is still compulsorily notifiable. I have pleasure in stating only
four cases were notified, this being a slight decrease compared with the previous
year. There were two deaths registered.
MEASLES.
This disease is not now notifiable and only a few cases were brought to my
notice. No deaths were registered.
WHOOPING COUGH.
One death was registered from this disease.
INFLUENZA.
During November there was the likelihood of another serious recurrence
of this disease, as the number of cases began to assume epidemic proportions.
Fortunately, however, although a fairly large number of persons were affected,
the disease was of a mild type, and assumed the form of gastro-enteritis. A few
persons were inoculated as a preventative. No records are available as to
results. The number of deaths registered was two.
PREVALENCE OF AND CONTROL OVER INFECTIOUS DISEASES.
Diphtheria Anti-toxin is supplied by the Council free of charge to the
Medical Practitioners in the District.
