ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
The retirement of Mr. S. Whitfield, Divisional Public
Health Inspector, at the end of 1969 was followed by the retirement
of Mr. H.C. Boswell, Associate Chief Public Health Inspector
at the beginning of March, 1970.
A new structure for the Public Health Inspectorate was
established on 1st March, 1970 with the appointment of the
remaining Divisional Public Health Inspector as Deputy Chief
Public Health Inspector and of three of the District Public
Health Inspectors as Senior Public Health Inspectors.
A third pupil Public Health Inspector was appointed in
the latter part of the year, bringing the establishment for students
up to strength. However, one of these students qualified
and at the end of the year had obtained an appointment with
another London Borough, officially leaving this Authority on
3rd J anuary, 1971.
At the end of November a third Pest Officer/General
Assistant was appointed and the necessary transport provided
by the Council for his use.
Ch 31st December, 1970 the Environmental Health Inspectorate
consisted of:-
1 Chief Public Health Inspector
1 Deputy Chief Public Health Inspector
3 Senior Public Health Inspectors
1 Senior Shops & Offices Inspector
1 Food Inspector
10 District Public Health Inspectors
2 Shops & Offices Inspectors
2 Authorised Meat Inspectors
3 Pest Control Officers/General Assistants
3 Pupil Public Health Inspectors
