At Risk Register
At the end of the year 473 children were being carefully
followed up, as they were considered to be "at risk" due to
various hereditary, ante-natal or post-natal factors. As soon as
it has been ascertained that a child is normal and making proper
progress, the need for special observation ceases to exist, and
the child's name is removed from the "At Risk Register". All
premature infants are included on the Register and Table 9 below
gives details of the number of Havering infants regarded as
premature on the basis of a birth weight of 5'/2lbs or less.
