It will be noted that tuberculous - infection was detected
in 67 cases and of these, 13 (7 male and 6 female) were significant
cases (those in need of immediate treatment or very close
supervision), giving an overall incidence rate of 0.49 per thousand
examined. The rate for males was 0.06 and for females 0.41 per
thousand examined. Bronchial carcinoma was detected in 11
cases (10 males and 1 female).
CARE OF THE TUBERCULOUS
An annual grant is made by this Council to the Havering
Tuberculosis Care Association who provide extra nourishment
grants and various other forms of assistance to patients and
contacts. This is a continuation of the arrangement formerly
