Under-noted are houses or parts of houses upon which closing orders were made. These dwellings or parts of
dwellings were unfit for human habitation and could not be made fit at reasonable cost.

General Improvement Areas
During the year two further areas were surveyed and declared General Improvement Areas. These were
Coleraine Park Area comprising 610 dwellings declared by the Council in April, and Middle Lane Area (68
dwellings) declared in October. The Department were able to undertake this work despite the continued shortage
of staff because of the particular circumstances relating to these areas.
