FOOD HYGIENE
The regular inspection in the light of the Food Hygiene Regulations 1960 of premises used for the
preparation, storage and sale of food intended for human consumption is an important aspect of the work
of the Department.
The number of food businesses being carried on by persons of other than British nationality appears
to be increasing and the difficulties of communication call for regular and patient work by the inspector.
During the year 76 summonses were issued in respect of food hygiene offences in 14 premises.
Fines and costs imposed totalled £388.
