FRIERN BARNET URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL.
Public Health Department,.
Town Hall. N.11.
31st. October., 1947.
TO THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE
FRIERN BARNET URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL.
Mrs. McCarthy and Gentlemen,
Again I have the privilege of presenting
to you a report upon the health conditions in your district for
the year ending December 31st. 1946.
The report is drawn up in the abbreviated
form in accordance with Circular 13/47 issued by the Ministry
of Health, and is little more than a factual record of statistics.
Generally speaking, the health of the
district is very good. The death-rate shows a slight increase,
while the infantile mortality rate is practically the same as
that for the previous year. The birth-rate is the highest for
over twenty years, and is considerably higher than the average
for the pre-war years. The infectious sickness rate was
slightly higher, but as this was accounted for by the increased
number of cases of Measles and Whooping Cough, this fact has
very little practical significance.
Brief comments on various aspects of the
work carried out by the Department will be found in the report,
together with the usual tables of statistics.
I am, Mrs. McCarthy and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
17. W. MILL JIT . M.B., Ch.B.
Medical Officer of Health.
