voluntary bodies (here Finchley is twice blessed) in this field, consummation of these
efforts is handicapped by the shortage of both geriatric hospital beds and places in
Welfare Homes.
CONCLUSION:
This report could not be compiled without the help of the family doctors and
my fellow Chief Officers in Finchley and I would also like to acknowledge the help
of all those who have contributed to the information in the Report, both individuals and
organisations. I would again draw attention to the loyalty and fidelity of the staff of
this Department and finally my thanks to the Chairman and members of the Public
Health Committee for their support and encouragement.
I am,
Your obedient servant,
J. G. HAGAN,
Medical Officer of Health.
