B. Proceedings under Public Health Acts :
(1) Number of dwelling-houses in respect of which notices

(1) Number of dwelling-houses in respect of which Demolition
Orders were made -
(2) Number of dwelling-houses demolished in pursuance of
Demolition Orders -
Housing Act, 1957—Farts II and III—Slum Clearance and Individual Unfit Houses
Slum Clearance Programme, 1956-1960 (inclusive)
The first five-year slum clearance programme was completed with the demolition
of the houses in the following two areas:-
Clearance Area No. 14
Percival Cottages, Nos. 185, 187, 189 & 191, East End Road, N.2 (4 houses).
Clearance Area No. 16
Nos. 4-14 (even), Church Lane, N.2 (6 houses).
Slum Clearance Programme, 1961-1965 (inclusive)
The Minister of Housing and Local Government in Circular 2/60 requested a
further survey of the district and upon inspection it was found that there were approximately
30 houses requiring action within the next five years. It was proposed to deal
with six of the houses as a Clearance Area and the remainder as individual unfit houses.
In this connection the following premises were dealt with during the year:-
Clearance Area No. 17
Nos. 137-147 (odd). East End Road, N.2 (6 houses).
This area was represented to the Council and it was declared a Clearance Area
under Part III of the Housing Act, 1957. An Order was made and submitted to the
Minister of Housing and Local Government and was subsequently confirmed.
At the end of the year four of the houses were vacant, two remaining occupied.
No. 9, Lodge Lane, N.12
A Closing Order was made and confirmed by the Council.
No. 1 & 2, Fleming Cottages, Great North Road, N.2 and No. 38, Lichfield
Grove, N.12
These houses were dealt with informally and demolition was secured by consultation
with the owners.
