Arising from complaints, 23 additional premises were found
to be infested with rats and 5 infested with mice.
At 72 premises infested with rats, poultry was being kept which
represented 32.14% of the infestations. One Notice under Section 4
had to be served. Arising therefrom, the occupier carried out a
successful treatment and then discontinued the keeping of poultry and
removed all sheds.
Smoke tests were applied to rat runs in 15 cases. Defects in
connection with sewers or drains were revealed in 10 of these cases.
All the necessary remedial work connected with the defects was carried
out.
