Food Poisoning
Eleven cases of Food Poisoning were notified during the year.
There were two minor outbreaks of 2 and 3 cases respectively, and
the remainder were single cases. All except one were due to
Salmonella Typhi-Murium. There is nearly always a lapse of
several days in these sporadic cases between the time that the
patient becomes infected and the time of receipt of a notification
from the doctor and by the time that the case is investigated by
this department no samples of the incriminating articles of food
are available. For this reason it was not possible to discover the
source of infection in any of these cases.
