All complaints of foxes are referred to the Pest Officer of
the Middlesex County Council.
Rats, of which no complaints had been received, were found
at 90 premises.
Rats were found in and around places where poultry was kept in 93 cases, which represent 38.3% of the infestations.

Fifteen smoke tests were applied to rat holes which revealed
defects in drainage at 4 premises.
Sewers
Maintenance treatments were carried out to the sewers during
the months of May and November and this continued surveillance
and treatment of the sewers is reflected in the reduced number of
rats per surface infestation.
The Rodent Operative, Mr. Taylor, left the employment of
the Council on the 23rd May, 1949, and Mr. Gower commenced
duties in his stead on the 13th June, 1949.
