WORK OF SANITARY INSPECTORS
1938,1947
INSPECTIONS
The total number of inspections made in regard to each section of work is recorded in the appended
table, together with the sanitary improvements carried out. It will be noticed that the numbers have risen
since the end of the war, especially with regard to the number of premises at which defects were found.
A large number of the visits and much of the inspectors' time was taken up with regard to the issue
of building licences and work in connection with rodent control, with the consequent result that routine
inspections were not carried out with the frequency that one would desire.
There was a falling off in the number of visits to food premises in 1946 owing to the closing down
of the Meat Distributing Depot at North Finchley but an increase in 1947 due to closer supervision of food
preparing premises.
