The following list gives the number of cases which were brought to the notice of the School Medical Officer for the past three years.
1936 | 1937 | 19 38 | |
---|---|---|---|
Chicken-pox | 283 | 301 | 95 |
Diphtheria | 5 | 2 | 2 |
Measles | 255 | 116 | 350 |
Mumps | 3 | 96 | 8 |
Scarlet Fever | 28 | 72 | 44 |
Whooping Cough | 15 | 137 | 64 |
599 | 724 | 563 |
Measles was very prevalent in 1938 but the other infectious
diseases were below the average. Only two cases of
diphtheria occurred in school children and for this happy state
of affairs credit must be given to the large number of parents
who have taken advantage of the Council's Immunisation
Scheme and to Head Teachers who have largely contributed
to the success of the scheme.
