Coffee Stalls.
The number of coffee stalls in the district is 7. Six of
these stalls are situated in the main roads.
These stalls are visited at intervals and action is taken
to secure the provision of a satisfactory water supply, suitable
means of food storage, cleanliness of stalls and utensils
and proper means for the storage and disposal of refuse.
Offensive Trades—Fish Friers.
The only offensive trade carried on in this district is
that of a fish frier, this business being established at 8
premises. Steps have been taken by periodical visits to
secure a reasonable compliance with the bye-laws.
Applications were received for the Council's consent to
establish the business of a fish fryer at:
134, Ballards Lane, N.3.
367, Ballards Lane, N.12.
4, Market Parade, Woodhouse Road, N.12.
10, Friern Watch Parade, High Road, N.12.
These applications were refused.
Came Licences.
Fourteen applications were received under Section 27 of
the Local Government Act, 1894, from tradesmen in the
district for licences to deal in game. A licence was granted
in each instance.
THE SHOPS ACTS, 1912—1936.
The duties under the Shops Acts have been greatly increased
by new legislation, particularly by the provisions
contained in the Shops Acts, 1934, and the Shops (Sunday
Trading Restriction) Act, 1936. A special report upon the
administration of the Shops Acts was submitted to the Public
Health Committee in July and the Council, upon the recommendation
of the Committee, appointed an additional inspector.
With this addition to the staff, it has been possible
to undertake systematic inspection under the Acts.
