Tuberculosis.
During the year 60 new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis
were notified comprising 26 males and 34 females. Five
non-pulmonary cases were notified comprising 3 males and
2 females.
There were 22 deaths from pulmonary tuberculosis as
compared with 26 in 1936, and 2 from non-pulmonary tuberculosis,
the same as in 1936. This gives a total of 24 deaths
from all forms of tuberculosis, 14 males and 10 females.
The death rate for the disease is 0.37 per 1,000 of the
population.
In 29.2% of the cases dying from tuberculosis, no previous
notification had been received.
Dr. Dobson, the Tuberculosis Officer, has been good
enough to supply me with the following figures:—
