The Colne Valley Water Company supplies the part of
the Borough transferred from Hendon as the result of adjustment
of boundaries—namely, the Finchley Golf Course.
This Company's water is also derived from deep wells
in the chalk and is chlorinated and partially softened before
distribution. The purity of the supply is ensured by constant
sampling for bacteriological and chemical examination. In
1936 of 506 samples of chlorinated and softened water examined
bacteriologically, 97.2 per cent. showed the absence
of B. Coli in 100 c.c.
The Metropolitan Water Board supplies certain parts on
the Eastern and Southern boundaries of the Borough—
namely:—
1-31 and 2-42, Cherry Tree Road.
65-81, Summerlee Avenue.
Gardener's Cottage, Stable, Chauffeur's Lodge and 4
garages with rooms over, attached to "The Firs,"
Hampstead Heath.
"Heath End House,'' Hampstead Heath.
The Spaniards Public House.
West Lodge to Kenwood Farm, Hampstead Lane.
"Spaniards Field," Wildwood Rise.
Removal off House and Trade Refuse.
House refuse is collected weekly, and in the summer
months a bi-weekly collection is made from a certain number
of flats.
Trade refuse is collected on payment.
The contract for refuse removal changed hands during
the year and a new type of rear loading van is employed.
All the refuse is incinerated.
