School Baths.
The Council's baths in Squires Lane are available for
the use of the chidren of all the elementary schools, and
during the year 17,347 attendances were made by 1,560
children.
Co-operation of Parents.
During the year 66% of parents attended routine medical
inspections. The attendance is very good in the case of
younger children but it tends to fall off as the children grow
older, and this is more marked in the case of boys. Many
mothers cannot attend because they go out to work and there
does not appear to be any means of avoiding this. Very few
parents neglect to carry out the recommendations of the
medical officers as regards medical treatment but unfortunately
the same is not yet true in the case of dental treatment.
The percentage of those in need of dental treatment who
actually attended for treatment at the Dental Clinic shows
a wide degree of variation throughout the schools, e.g., in
the Alder, Christ Church and Our Lady of Lourdes, it was
