Sanitary Conveniences.
There are 25 sanitary conveniences attached to
licensed houses within the district. Of these 17 are
so situated as to be more or less available for use by
members of the public.
As the result of action taken by the department in
past years these conveniences are generally of good
construction and they are inspected at frequent intervals
to ensure that they are kept in a cleanly condition.
One urinal adjoining the Bald Faced Stag Public
House at East Finchley has been abolished in consequence
of the erection by the Council of a convenience
adjoining the site.
There are now two public conveniences within the
district at which accommodation is provided for both
sexes, and in two instances the Council (under agreement
with the landlords) maintain the conveniences
attached to licensed houses as such conveniences are
much used by the public.
At the end of the year 1925 negotiations were proceeding
regarding the acquisition of the site upon which
an old insanitary iron urinal stands. It is hoped that
these negotiations will prove successful and that, as a
result, the old urinal will be abolished and a new public
convenience of a modern character erected in its place.
Places of Public Entertainment.
In accordance with the request of the Minister of
Health contained in Circular 120 the cinemas, dance
halls and other places of public entertainment have been
inspected, special attention being given to the condition
and the adequacy of the sanitary accommodation. The
defects discovered as a result of these inspections were
promptly remedied and a report upon the premises has
been submitted each year to the Middlesex County
Council, which is the Licensing Authority for the
district of Finchley.
The number of premises dealt with in 1925 was 24.
