The Public Institutions within the District furnished
21 deaths, as follows:—
The Woodside Home 12
The Convent of the Good Shepherd 9
These deaths were all of persons who came to Finchley from
other Districts, and who were non-parishioners; they have not,
therefore, been reckoned with in estimating the Finchley Deathrate.
The Causes of Infantile Mortality are set forth in
Table A3.
As I pointed out in my last year's Report, the great
discrepancy which exists between this rate in different districts
furnishes striking evidence that there are many causes at work—
acting unequally in the different districts—which are preventable.
It is satisfactory to note that the rate of infant mortality is low
for the District.
