Drainage, Closet accommodation and Cesspools
Almost all premises in the Borough are connected to the main
sewerage system and are provided with properly functioning water
closets.
Sewage is disposed of at the outfall works of the West Kent
Main Sewerage Board situated in the area of a neighbouring Local
Authority. Some drainage difficulties occur in premises
situated on the Belvedere Marshes and consideration is being
given to improving the situation there.
Fourteen domestic cesspools are known to exist and these are
emptied when required by a special vehicle and the contents
emptied into the Council's sewer.
