E (3)c Disposal of Unsound Meat and other Food.
Meat (Staining and Sterilisation) Regulations 1960.
With the coming into force of the above Regulations,
as there are no sterilising facilities for unfit meat at the
slaughterhouse, such meat is stained with naphthaline green,
and removed by arrangement for sterilisation elsewhere.
The residue of unsound food, inclusive of tinned goods
is disposed of with the town's refuse.
E (3)f Slaughter of Animals Act 1958.
Humane slaughtering of all animals in accordance with
the above statute prevails throughout the Borough. The
instruments used are the captive bolt pistol, and electrolethaler.
The number of slaughtermen's licences existing is 15.
