1955.
(1) The Regulations referred to above and made under
sections 13 and 123 of the principal Act came into operation,

in securing higher standards of food hygiene throughout the
food and catering industries, and by replacing section 13 of
the Food and Drugs Act 1938, add a number of new provisions
in respect of hygienic handling of food and the construction
and maintenance of premises, stalls, vehicles etc.,
where food is handled. Implementation of the Regulations
necessitated every food premises in the Borough being inspected
and enforcement has already produced a noticeable
improvement in regard to standards aspects of both food
hygiene and personal hygiene. In many instances, food
premises are being structurally altered, whilst in others, complete
reconstruction is taking place. Some food purveyors

the rule than the exception.
