E (3) Meat and Food Inspection
(a) Resulting from inspections at the various food
premises in the Borough, the following were found to be
unfit and subsequently destroyed:—
Mea 293 tins
Meat l,90 ¾ lbs.
Fish 232 tins
Fish100 lbs.
Fruit 492 tins
Vegetables 804 tins
Milk 68 tins
Preserves 152 lbs.
Cheese 102 lbs.
Cereals 44 ½ lbs.
Fat 112 lbs.
Frozen egg 84 lbs.
Table jellies 106
Approximate total weight:—2 tons. 3 cwts. 1 qr. 6 lbs
(b) One trader proposed to retail so called hot pies from
an improvised moble vehicle, and owing to the unsatisfactory
conditions prevailing, this practice was discouraged, and the
project was consequently abandoned.
E (4) Slaughter of Animals Act 1933
By resolution of the Council dated 23rd May, 1938, the
provisions of section 1 of the Act apply to sheep which are
slaughtered in the area, and makes the use of mechanically
operated instruments a statutory obligation.
