D(5)i Eradication of Bed Bugs
During the year dwelling houses found to be infested
with vermin and subsequently disinfested were as follows:—
Privately owned houses 14
Corporation houses 2
Disinfestation of both privately owned and Corporation
houses is carried out by an operative under the supervision of
Sanitary Inspectors, presence of vermin being revealed either
on complaint or when inspections are being carried out. With
a view to good control, occupiers are encouraged to report
infestations, when every assistance is given to cope with the
menace. Close co-operation exists between the Housing
Department and the Sanitary Inspectors, as a result of which
successful disinfestation is promptly carried out, and in the
case of transfers, it is sometimes necessary for the tenant to
surrender certain household effects for destruction.
