There is a consultant's desk and chair with two chairs for
patients. There is a slab made of rustless steel for a small
electric steriliser with nearby a wash basin in to which hot
water is supplied by an electric water heater fixed to the wall
above.
An alcove is provided in which alternatively can be stored
the dental chair and the examination couch.
Other equipment provided in this room includes a spittoon
fitted on a bracket to the dental chair. A portable gas apparatus,
a Terry's angle-poise portable high powered lamp, an electric
dental engine, lazy tongs type fixed to the wall, and a fitted
dental cabinet. Small glass-topped tables are also available
as well as instrument cabinets. A curtain rack enables the
consulting part of this room to be shut off if necessary from the
part containing the examination couch and dental chair.
Special Entrance for Staff.
It will be noted from the plan that to the consulting room
the doctor and dental surgeon have their own entrance from
outside.
Leading from the consulting room is the recovery room.
I nder the window are three small bowls, supplied with cold
and tepid water taps and fixed against white glazed tiles where,
after dental work, esi>ecially extractions, patients can rinse their
mouths.
Recovery Room Set Apart.
It will be noted that the servery and the vestibule separate
widely this part of the clinic from the waiting room.
In the recovery room also is a metal slab for a large
steriliser, a large footbath, and a wash basin. To both the
latter a supply of hot water is laid from a large electric water
heater.
Rotating adjustable stools, rubber link mats, chairs, one
or two glass-topped tables, towel rails and screens complete the
equipment of this room. The plan will show that it opens out
into the vestibule which communicates also with the waiting
room.
A circulation of patients, especially dental patients, is
therefore ensured by this plan of clinic. Access to it does not
necessitate crossing the school playground and its entrances
are all detached and separate from those of the school.
