The following is a summary of the work carried out during
1944.
51 Children and 6 mothers were referred for treatment.
3 Mothers were treated for deafness and discharged cured.
3 Mothers were referred to the Golden Square Hospital for
treatment and discharged cured.
1 Mother was referred to the Golden Square Hospital for
removal of Nasal Polypi. These were successfully
removed.
9 Children were referred for removal of Tonsils and Adenoids.
6 Children were referred for removal of Adenoids.
33 Children referred for treatment of rhinitis and acute otorrhoea.
3 Children were found to have no abnormality.
OPHTHALMIC TREATMENT.
The scheme whereby Ante-Natal and Nursing Mothers and
Children under 5 years of age, with eye defects, are referred to the
School Opthalmic Surgeon was continued.
The following are particulars of the cases referred during the year 1944:

SPEECH CLINIC.
Six children were referred to the Speech Clinic for treatment.
CHILD LIFE PROTECTION—PUBLIC HEALTH ACT, 1936.
At the end of 1944, ten persons in Enfield were receiving
children for reward; the total number of children concerned was
23. Each of these was visited at least monthly by the Infant
Life Protection Visitors (Health Visitors).
