INFANT MORTALITY.
The infant mortality rate was 38.12, the second lowest recorded
for at least 50 years.

PUERPERAL PYREXIA.
During the year 7 cases of puerperal pyrexia were notified all
of which were removed to hospital.
MATERNAL MORTALITY.
There were five maternal deaths resulting from Pregnancy.
All died in institutions.

There are in Enfield the following Nursing Homes :

These homes were inspected by youi Medical Officers during
the course of the year.
ADMINISTRATION OF MIDWIVES ACT, 1902-36.
During the year 1941 there were 15 Midwives practising in
Enfield, all of whom lived in the district. The Midwives were
visited regularly by the Medical Officers, and their records and
equipment inspected. Of these 15 Midwives, 13 were employed
by the Council as whole-time Municipal Midwives, two in a
temporary capacity.
