52 children and 7 mothers were so referred. This compares
with 92 children during the previous year.
OPHTHALMIC TREATMENT.
The scheme whereby mothers and children attending the
centres, who are in need of ophthalmic treatment, could be referred
to the School Ophthalmic Surgeon, was continued throughout
the year.
From the following figures it will be seen to what extent such services have been utilised.

CHILD LIFE PROTECTION.
PUBLIC HEALTH ACT, 1936.
One hundred and thirty-six visits were paid by the Infant
Life Protection Visitors during the year in connection with their
duties under this Act.
In addition, visits have been paid by the Medical Officers
and Sanitary Inspectors.
