From this table it would appear that the number of children in
excellent health is higher than in 1935 and that the number of normal
children has considerably increased. I cannot ask the Committee
to accept these figures as a real statement of the position in EnfieldThere
is no scientific standard of nutrition upon which doctors can
work for comparative purposes and the figures obtained vary enormously
with the doctor examining the children. I believe this
accounts for the variation in the figures shown above. I am satisfied
that the state of nutrition of the children in Enfield is reasonably
similar to that of the last two years.
Skin Diseases.—Thirteen cases were seen; twelve required
treatment, and one was kept under observation.
Ear Disease.—Twenty-five cases of middle ear disease were
found; also 59 cases of defective hearing. All these cases were
referred to the Aural Clinic for treatment.
