PLACES OF PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT.
Twenty-three inspections of cinemas and other places of entertainment
were made in accordance with the recommendation contained
in the Circular of the Ministry of Health, dated August 25th,
1920.
The sanitary accommodation at each place was found to be
satisfactory and sufficient.
There are prospects now of places of entertainment of a more
imposing and luxurious character being erected in Enfield.
Whether this can be considered a matter calling for consideration
from the sanatarian I do not know, but it is evident that this
latest craze of the public is going to receive consideration.
OFFENSIVE TRADES.
The following offensive trades are established in the District:—
Fish Fryers 30
Rag and Bone Dealers 3
Glue Maker Soap Boiler 1
and in connection with these, 112 inspections were made during
the year.
With regard to the Fish-fryers, 17 have been established with
the consent in writing of the Council, and the majority of the oldestablished
businesses are now fitted with up-to-date frying stoves.
No doubt the Council will have noted that we are now
endeavouring to obtain a higher standard of Fish Fryers by asking
for the most up-to-date apparatus to be installed in Fish Saloons
rather than the old type of open Fish Fryers' shops.
MILK.
Routine inspection of cowsheds, dairies and milkshops has been
carried out during the year under the Milk and Dairies (Consolidation)
Order, 1926. The standard of cleanliness has been
fairly well maintained.
I am pleased to say that practically the whole of the farms
retailing milk are now fitted with sterilisation plants.
