It will be noticed that the number of outstanding Statutory
Notices is very small compared with the number issued, and I think
this may be taken as a very satisfactory position for the end of the
year.
The defects found during the inspection of dwelling-houses are
of a somewhat general character, and include the following:—
Defective drains and ventilating pipes, etc.; W.C. flushing
cisterns and pipes out of order; cracked and broken W.C. pans;
broken, cracked and porous scullery sinks and waste pipes; leaking
roofs; defective gutters; absence of, or broken, paving around
houses: defective plaster of ceilings and walls; damp walls; want
