INFANTILE DEATHS.
The total number of deaths which occurred amongst infants
under one year, including 34 registered outside the District, and
deducting 2 of non-residents occurring in the District, was 86,
giving a death-rate of 62.77 per 1,000 births, as compared with a
death-rate of 59.00 for England and Wales, and 63.00 for the 122
County Boroughs and Great Towns (including London).
The corresponding figures for Enfield for the last four vears
were: 1932, 60.11; 1933, 50.38; 1934, 43.27; and 1935, 50.00.
It will be noticed that there were 25 more deaths of children
under one year of age this year than last. This is accounted for
by the fact that there were 15 deaths from Pneumonia compared
with 12 for last year, and 34 deaths from Premature Birth as compared
with 22 for last year.
The number of deaths of illegitimate children was 4, which
gives a death-rate of 100.00 per 1 ,000 illegitimate infants.
