It is to be noted that of the 805 deaths that occurred during
the year, 344 took place outside the District of Enfield.
Of these, 257 were Enfield residents who died in the North
Middlesex Hospital, Edmonton, and information as to these deaths
and the causes thereof is supplied to me regularly each week by
the courtesy of the Medical Officer of Health of the Urban District
Council of Edmonton.
The figure of 805 deaths assigned to Enfield represents an
increase of 50 on last year.
There were 15 more deaths from Malignant Disease, 14 more
from Tuberculosis of the Respiratory System and 12 more from
Prematurity.
It is to be hoped that medical science will succeed in overcoming
the two first-mentioned diseases, whilst my remarks on
Maternity and Child Welfare discuss the increased incidence of
Prematurity.
