All tests subsequent to immunisation proved to be negative.
In addition to this, 35 children at an Institution in Enfield were
tested and found to be negative.
It will be realised that very little work on immunisation was
carried out during the year. New schemes take some time to
receive appreciation from the public, and in view of the fact that the
number of cases of Diphtheria was low, it was difficult to create
much enthusiasm for immunisation.
Towards the end of the year lectures on Diphtheria Immunisation
were given, and I am pleased to report that in the early part of
1936 large numbers of children have been immunised.
The scheme is now gaining ground in Enfield.
TYPHOID AND PARATYPHOID FEVER.
One case of Typhoid Fever and one case of Paratyphoid Fever
were notified during the year.
There were two deaths during the year, one from Typhoid and
one from Enteric Fever.
POLIOMYELITIS.
Two cases of this disease were notified during the year.
CEREBRO-SPINAL FEVER.
One case of this disease was notified during the year, which
proved fatal.
ENCEPHALITIS LETHARGICA.
No cases of this disease were notified during the year.
MEASLES AND GERMAN MEASLES.
As from the beginning of 1932 Measles and German Measles
were made non-notifiable in Enfield with the consent of the Minister
of Health. It is, therefore, impossible to give definite figures as
to the extent of these diseases within the District.
Some idea of the extent of these diseases can be obtained,
however, by the fact that 15 cases of Measles and two cases of
German Measles were excluded from the Schools during the year.
These figures compare favourably with 430 cases of Measles and 160
cases of German Measles for last year.
