THE MILK (SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS) ORDER, 1923.
The inspection of premises where Graded Milk is sold has been
carried out as heretofore.
There are 15 Purveyors of Milk who sell or distribute Pasteurised
Milk in the District.
During the course of the year 27 samples were taken of this
milk, either at the place of pasteurisation or in the course of
delivery.
Of these, 22 were found to comply with the Regulations prescribed
in connection with Pasteurised Milk, and 5 were not in
accordance with the standard.
Investigations were made in these cases, and the Purveyors
advised as to what steps should be taken to come within the
standard.
In all cases the necessary steps were taken and further
samples showed the milk to be in order.
No request was received during the year from the Ministry of
Health for samples of Certified Milk to be taken for analysis to see
that they fulfilled the requirements of the Act, and if they came
up to the standard necessary for Certified Milk.
Meat.
There are no public abattoirs in the District. Quite a large
quantity of meat slaughtered at the Caledonian Market is brought
