Boys. Girls. Total.
435 461 896
including 22 illegitimate births, i.e., 2.45 per cent. of the total.
In addition, 15 male (including 1 illegitimate) and 17 female stillbirths
were registered.

The corrected birth-rates for both sexes, live and still-births, which takes into consideration those born outside the District and those in the District not rightly recorded to the District, and also the corrected birth-rates for the last 5 years, are:—

INFANTILE DEATHS.
The total number of deaths which occurred amongst infants
under one year, including 39 registered outside the District, and
deducting 5 of non-residents occurring in the District, was 61, giving
a death-rate of 50.00 per 1,000 births, as compared with a death-rate
of 57.00 for England and Wales, and 62.00 for the 121 County
Boroughs and Great Towns (including London). The corresponding
figures for Enfield for the last four years were: 1931,
53.50; 1932,60.11; 1933,50.38; and 1934, 43.27.
It will be noticed that there were 14 more deaths of children
under one year of age this year than last. This is accounted for by
the fact that there were 10 deaths from Enteritis compared with
1 for last year, and 22 deaths from Premature Birth as compared
with 14 for last year.
The number of deaths of illegitimate children was 4, which gives
a death-rate of 108.10 per 1,000 illegitimate infants.
