According to this scheme it has been decided to provide the
material necessary for immunisation free to the poorer residents
of the District who may desire it. Immunisation will be carried
out at the Council's School Clinics and Maternity and Child Welfare
Clinics by the Medical Officers of the Council.
There is provision in the scheme, however, for the supply of
materials to Practitioners treating Enfield residents.
The scheme was only adopted at the end of the year and has not
been put into practice completely at the time of writing this Report.
The small number of cases of Diphtheria and the absence of
mortality render it unlikely that much demand will be made for
immunisation.
I sincerely hope, however, that the residents of the District
will not wait for a serious epidemic to provide the propaganda and
impetus to the obtaining of protection against this serious disease.
