POPULATION.
The estimated population for Enfield for 1929, based on the
adjusted 1921 census, after allowance for the varying rates of
natural increase as evidenced by births and deaths, and migrations
as indicated from other sources of information, has been supplied
by the Registrar-General as 65,100.
BIRTHS.
The number of births registered in the District was:—
Boys, 475. Girls, 413. Total, 888.
including 13 illegitimate births, i.e., 1.46 per cent. of the total.
In addition to the above, 11 male and 10 female stillborn births
were registered.
The births of both sexes, live and still-births including those registered outside the District, also birth-rates for the last five years, were:—
| Year. | Boys. | Girls. | Total. | Birth-rate per 1,000 Population. | Illegitimate Birth-rate per 1,000 Population. |

In this respect one notes the increase in births of males over
females, 62 more boys were born during the year than girls; in
1928 this figure was 63, and in 1927 only 16. There were 48 more
births this year than in 1928.
