REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF HOUSE AND TRADE
REFUSE.
This work is carried out by the Public Health Department.
Arrangements are made whereby a weekly collection is made
throughout the whole of the District.
For this purpose the Council possesses:—
4 2½ ton Edison Electric Vehicles.
1 S.D. Freighter.
3 Horses and carts.
I cannot in any way state that these vehicles are satisfactory
for the purpose. I consider them to be out of date, inasmuch as
it is not possible to keep the refuse covered in its entirety as the
vehicle passes through the town.
More modern and better types of vehicles for this purpose are
now available, and as the present stock gets worn out and becomes
disused, I hope it will be replaced by a more modern type.
I do not think that a weekly collection is sufficient during the
summer months, when vegetable matter rots quickly andi becomes
offensive, and I hope that it will be possible shortly for the Council
to help me in arranging for a more frequent collection.
Refuse has been disposed of by controlled tipping at the
following places:—
Moat, Seaford Road, from January 28th to May 11th, 1929.
Goat Lane, from July 30th to October 9th, 1929.
Brown's Brickfields from October 9th, 1929, to date.
I wish to make special mention of the following concerning the
Moat, Seaford Road.
For many years this site had consisted of a ditch, the bottom
of which was filled with water into which it had been customary
