REPORT OF THE INSPECTOR OF NUISANCES FOR THE
YEAR 1921.
To the Chairman and Members of
The Urban District Council of Enfield.
Gentlemen,
I beg to submit a report for the year ending December 31st,
1921. The particulars in tabular form required by Article
20 (16) of the General Order of the Local Government Board, of the
work done in connection with your Sanitary Department under my
supervision, being included in the Report of the Medical Officer
of Health, I have omitted them to avoid repetition.
The general character of the defects found to exist in the dwelling
houses inspected were:—
Defective drains and ventilating pipes, etc.; W.C. flushing
cisterns and pipes out of order; cracked and broken W.C. pans;
broken, cracked and porous scullery sinks and waste pipes; leaking
roofs; defective gutters; absence of, or broken, paving around
houses; defective plaster of ceilings and walls; damp walls; want
of ventilation under ground floors and general uncleanly conditions.

The following are the works carried out as the result of the notices or letters:—

Houses or parts of houses cleansed, repaired, etc.581
