abnormal season, appear well kept and in satisfactory condition.
The numbers remain about the same as at the period of my last
inspection.

With regard to the cows referred to above, enquiries were made
as soon as I received information of these, when we found that the
one mentioned in the April report had, with others, been sold to a
dealer in another District, and in spite of endeavours we were unable
to trace it further. With regard to the one referred to in the
December report, this cow was destroyed by the owner and buried.
Meat.
There are no public abattoirs in the District. Quite a large
quantity of meat slaughtered at the Caledonian Market is brought
into the District.
