From these particulars it will be seen that we have found it
possible during 1912 to increase the number of inspections of
dwellings, the figures being 1,236 in 1912, as against 1,136 in
1911.
The majority of the defects found to exist were remedied
before the end of the year, and the remainder are having attention.
This result, I am pleased to say, has again been obtained
without resource to legal proceedings during the year.
As will be seen, the number of visits has also been increased
by the visits made in reference to children excluded from Elementary
Schools, the total for the vear of inspections and visits being
19,214.
REMOVAL OF HOUSE REFUSE.
The removal of house refuse has received very close attention
in order to see that the weekly collection and clearing of refuse
from all houses was maintained. 7,129 loads were collected and
taken to the Council's shoots or disposed of to brickmakers.
