The following cases were removed to the
Enfield and Edmonton Joint Isolation Hospital:—
Scarlet Fever 172
Diphtheria 261
Enteric Fever 0

In addition to the above, nine cases of Diphtheria
were removed to the Cheshunt Isolation Hospital.
As mentioned in my special Report, I made
306 bacteriological examinations of swabs sent me
by different medical men, in 128 of which I found
the Kleb's Loftier Bacillus.
I received a number of swabs of "Contacts"
from the School Medical Officer, and though in
the large majority of cases these proved to be
non-specific, still some "carrier" cases were
detected, promptly isolated, and prevented doing
further harm; thus showing the advantage of
such examinations, as it would have been next to
impossible to diagnose some of these cases otherwise.
I also examined some blood by the Widal
test, from a suspected case of Enteric Fever, which
showed that the patient was suffering from that
disease.
