With regard to the 28 samples noted as unsatisfactory, the following
comments are made:—
Milk. Twenty-one samples from one dairy farmer were all slightly
deficient in fat or solids-not-fat. A letter of warning and advice was sent to
the farmer. Two samples from another farmer were deficient in fat and
solids-not-fat, but associated and subsequent samples proved to be genuine
and no further action was taken. A sample of sterilised milk was deficient
in fat and solids-not-fat and contained a small percentage of added water.
The sterilisers were officially cautioned.
