PREFACE.
Public Health Department,
Town Hall,
Edmonton. N.9.
His Worship the Mayor, Alderman and Councillors
of the Borough of Edmonton.
Mr.Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have much pleasure in presenting my ninth Annual Report
for the year 1943, and the fourth under War-time conditions.
As in my last Report, this is compiled in accordance with
the Ministry of Health Circulars and therefore contains only a brief
outline of information.
The BIRTH rate continued to increase and it is again to
be noted that the MATERNAL MORTALITY is low.
The rest of the health conditions of the Borough are
somewhat the same as in the previous year.
I would like to thank the members of the Council for their
unfailing courtesy and co-operation in getting through the year which
was exceedingly difficult in every Department, and in conclusion, I
would also like to thank the members of my staff for their loyal and
efficient co-operation.
I have the honour to be, Mr.Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
Medical Officer of Health.
