PREVALENCE OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE
MEASLES AND WHOOPING COUGH
Those diseases were made compulsorily notifiable in October, 1939. 308
cases of Measles and 47 cases of Whooping Cough wore notified during the year.
There were no deaths from Whooping Cough and only one death from Measles.
In October of this year the Council agreed to supply Measles Immune Globulin
to General Practitioners for the treatment of Edmonton children, subject to
the Doctors signing a statement that the material would be supplied to the
patient free of charge.
DIPHTHERIA
Once again I am happy to report a still lower incidence of this disease.
Only 14 cases were notified during the year. There was one death.
