INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD.
Milk Supply.
There are no cowkeepers in the Borough. The number of milk retailers
on the Register at the end of the year was 90. of which 13 were added
during the year. A total of 104 visits were paid to these during the year.
No contraventions have come to the knowledge of the staff.
With respect to the Milk (Special Designations) Order, 1936, samples
of designated milks arc sent to the Counties' Public Health Laboratories for
bacteriological examinations; the results are tabulated previously under
"Laboratory Facilities."
There are two slaughterhouses in the Borough (both licensed) and visits
are made when slaughtering is carried on ; the figures shown above arc not
very large, consequent upon the fact that the majority of the meat sold in
this Borough is bought from the London markets.
