HOUSING.
Overcrowding.
Work in connection with the Survey is still being carried out, and
applications are still being received for "Permitted Number" Certificates,
and in the majority of cases it would appear to affect houses sold, owneroccupied
houses, sub-let, sold and re-let.
Up to the end of the year the total number of houses dealt with for
"Permitted Number " Certificates was approximately 9,000.
The number of Notices served under Section 62 of the Housing Act for
failure to insert "Permitted Numbers" in rent books was 66.
The recording of measurements of rooms, etc., in different types of
houses has entailed a considerable amount of work, and in order to keep the
information already obtained in connection with the Housing Survey as
up-to-date as possible it will be necessary to retain the services of the Housing
Survey Clerk.
Housing Act, 1936.
